HOMAGE TO TOUSSAINT LOUVERTURE |

 Arrested on the 7th of June 1802, Toussaint Louverture is immediately deported aboard a ship headed for France. A decree of the Consuls dated 23rd July 1802 ordered his transfer and imprisonment at the Joux Fort, where he would be held in secret.
He arrived at the Joux Fortress on 23rd August 1802.After several months of suffering in the fort where the temperature often dipped to -30° Celsius in winter, Toussaint LOUVERTURE died on the 7th of April 1803 at the age of 60 years.
